D-link Settings

Select your D-Link router model:

 

FOR MODEL DI-514, DI-524, DI-604, DI-614+, DI-624, DI-704P (REV C), DI-754, DI-764, AND DI-774:

  1. Open your web browser and enter the IP address of your router (192.168.0.1). Enter username (admin) and your password (leave blank).
  2. Click on Advanced and then click on Virtual Server on the left side.
  3. Create a new rule:
    • Click Enabled.
    • Enter a Name ('BeInSync's).
    • Enter the IP address of the computer you want to run BeInSync on.
      See below how you can find the IP address of your computer.
    • For Protocol Type, select TCP.
    • For Private and Public Port, enter 5584.
    • Click Always.

  4. Click Apply and then Continue to save settings.
  5. Repeat Step 3 with the following:
    • Name: beinsync2
    • Protocol Type: TCP
    • Private and Public Port: 5585

  6. Click Apply and then Continue to save settings.

FOR MODEL DI-704P (rev.B), DI-704UP, DI-707P, DI-714P+, DI-804HV, DI-808HV, AND DI-824VUP:

  1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your router (192.168.0.1). Enter admin for your username and then your password (blank by default).
  2. Click on the Advanced tab and then Virtual Server on the left side.
  3. Enter the following information:
    • Check the Enable box.
    • Next to Service Ports, enter 5584-5585
    • Next to Service IP, enter the IP address of the computer you want to run BeInSync on.
    • Click Always or set a schedule.
  4. Click Apply and then click Restart to save your changes. D-link: advances settings screen

FOR MODEL DI-704, DI-704P (REV A), DI-707, DI-711 (REV A), DI-713, AND DI-713P:

  1. Open your web browser and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). Enter username (admin) and your password (blank by default). If there is only 1 box, enter admin.
  2. Click on Advanced at the bottom and then click Virtual Server.
  3. Create a new entry:
    • Enter 5584-5585 in the box under Service Ports.
    • Enter the IP address of the computer you want to run BeInSync on.
    • Check the box under Enable.
  4. Click Save and then click Reboot.

User quotes

GoToMyPC is great, but I have to be logged in to that computer to send a file to myself. I like BeInSync because it quietly runs in the background.
I don't have to have a separate window up to wait for a 120 MB file to sync up.
